Last Chance to GET ON THE BUS!!!!

Join SEEDS on a GREEN BUS TOUR: Sunday, October 2nd, 2016

8:30am to ~3:45pm

and visit exciting renewable energy systems and sustainable community projects in our area.

SPACE IS LIMITED, but seats are still available.

The cost is $25 per person, including a local farm-fresh lunch. We will be departing Honesdale promptly at 8:30. (See reservation and payment details below)

Reserve early for this opportunity to:

  • Visit a unique straw bale private home with a solar thermal radiant heating system, currently under construction near Narrowsburg. The homeowner will discuss how it’s based on a super-insulated, post and beam design from the book HearthSpire by renowned architect John Silverio and how she built it using wood harvested on-site and milled in Beach Lake.
  • See Haven for Humanity, where nature and technology peacefully co-exist: a self-sustainable educational campground and community wellness center with a bio-energy greenhouse dome. They will be featured guest speakers at SEEDS annual meeting on Tues Sept. 20th.
  • Enjoy a Farm-to-Table light lunch while touring a pole-mounted solar array and the recent energy renovations at The Ant Hill Farm, where they manage ecological food production systems that mimic nature and a perennial-based production model that uses agroforestry and silvopasture as its foundation.
  • Learn about the greening of the 150-year-old Cooperage building in downtown Honesdale, now a non-profit community center. Learn about their super-efficient pellet boilers and the community-financed 27kW solar array on their roof.
