TEAAM Sustainability Intern
My name is Elizabeth Sara Danon, and I have recently completed my freshmen year at SUNY Stonybrook. My future goals are plain and simple: to grow stronger as an indvidual while obtaining complete happiness, to help others for the better in some shape or form, and to see the world work together to keep this planet alive. To do so, I’m majoring in marine science and will most likely go into cancer research. Although, I feel as SEEDS was my first official stepping stone in making a differance.
I came back as a “seasoned” intern (this was my second year) because I love what TEAAM is about. Plus, I found that I very much enjoy the science of houses. Assesing houses has not only given me knowledge of being a successful homeowner, but also has taught me the importance of conserving energy, even in the most subtle ways (i.e. using outlet gaskets and/or faucet aeraeters). It’s amazing how much these little differances can affect a home’s energy usage. I feel it as my personal mission, along with many other energy conscious human beings, to teach as many people what’s happening when they flip that light switch, or let drafts go unfixed. Look it up, you’d be amazed. And if the wind moves you that much, then hop on board, and join the TEAAM.

Kayleigh Cornellis a native of northeastern Pennsylvania where she is glad to be serving as an Energy Corps member with SEEDS in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Always fostering an interest in activism and the environment, she attended the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a degree in Environmental Studies. “I was so blessed to have such amazing mentors, teachers, and fellow activists guide me to work towards a more sustainable planet,” she said.
Kayleigh also spent four months learning about sustainability in Scotland in the eco-village of Findhorn. “Going to Findhorn was probably one of the best choices I ever made with my life because it opened my eyes to see that whole communities can live sustainably and comfortably when a group of people consciously move towards this goal.”
Since graduating Kayleigh worked as a watershed specialist with the Lackawanna River Corridor, protecting water resources and performing water quality testing in the Lackawanna River watershed. Now she is eager to serve as an Energy Corps member in transforming her hometown to be a community that appreciates and conserves the wonderful natural resources of northeastern Pennsylvania.
