2026 Wayne County Solar Tour Join SEEDS of NEPA and local hosts for the 2026 ASES National Solar Tour, the nation’s largest grassroots renewable energy event. Explore Wayne County homes and businesses showcasing real‑world solar and energy‑efficient technologies, learn how clean energy supports affordability and sustainability, and see how our community leads in climate‑smart living. Date: October 2-4, 2026
The first solar site tour is a fully off‑grid, solar‑plus‑battery powered cabin operating continuously for more than a decade. The owners live here summers and many weekends year‑round, demonstrating long‑term resilience and independence from the grid. This site is open for tours on October 3rd and 4th but please RSVP on the national solar tour site for directions.
Boyds Mills, located in Damascus, PA, is a self‑guided stop on the ASES National Solar Tour, offering visitors a look at the retreat center’s substantial solar infrastructure. The site features a ground mounted solar array, complemented by an additional barn roof array located nearby, both of which support campus operations. The retreat center sits on the historic homestead of the founders of Highlights magazine, connecting its educational mission to a legacy of children’s publishing and creativity. Visitors are welcome to walk among the arrays and view the equipment up close on October 4th, including the inverter installation. Boyds Mills is an active retreat center, so guests are asked to be respectful of staff and workshop participants during their visit.
Willow Wisp Organic Farm and the Farm Arts Collective, located in Damascus, PA, invite visitors to explore how solar energy supports sustainable agriculture, community creativity, and regional clean‑energy innovation. This stop blends education, arts, and environmental stewardship, offering a structured tour and discussion focused on both residential and community solar options. This stop will also include a guided tour with SEEDS Board member Jack Barnett to discuss solar energy and sustainability as well as community solar. This tour be on October 4th from 2pm-4pm.
