Empowering Sustainable Communities

August 4, 2024 – Annual Picnic at Promise Land State Park

The Annual SEEDS Picnic was enjoyed by all who attended. It was a beautiful location with a wonderful view of the lake. The weather held up for most of the time. There was a slight passing shower that didn’t dampen the mood, as we enjoyed the nice CCC Pavillion at Promised Land State Park.

In addition to great company and food, we had 2 solar cookers, a Pathfinder and a photovoltaic system demo on site. Such a great opportunity for those who attended to ask questions from knowledgeable people!

As a special treat, solar s’mores were enjoyed by those attending who wanted one (the solar oven cooked them)!  If you were not able to come to this year’s picnic, we hope you will be able to join us next year! Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Welcome Adam, SEEDS new Energy Circle Leader!

Adam Freedgood is a management consultant specializing in sustainability and ESG strategy for companies. He splits his time between Equinunk, PA and Morristown, NJ. He is passionate about helping organizations achieve positive impact as a business growth driver.

After a decade of helping international nonprofits with data-driven fundraising campaigns, he found his calling to more directly address the climate crisis and social justice through the influence of business. In 2013, Adam co-founded Third Partners, an advisory firm that helps businesses incorporate sustainability into their operations and culture in ways that support growth.

When in Northeast PA, Adam and his family live “off the grid” in a solar and battery powered cabin perched on a mountainside. He enjoys spending time exploring the upper Delaware river region, building things, and advising nonprofits on growth strategies.

Adam has an MS in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a BS in Marketing from Penn State.

Clean Energy Co-op: Looking Toward the Future

For more than a decade, SEEDS’s for-profit offshoot has been developing and funding solar projects that are community oriented and community supported. And every year, it has been returning a small but consistent dividend to its shareholders.

The Co-op has just finished funding its seventh project, a large solar array on the new Weavers Way Germantown Co-op Store.

Much of the current team has been there from the very beginning and have a remarkable record of accomplishment.

But we also know that new ideas come from fresh minds. There is an election for Board Members in October and the Co-op is looking for interested candidates who want to join the team, either as a Board Member or serve on one of the Co-op Committees

If you are interested or would just like more information, please email info@cleanenergy.coop,  Christine Weigand at cwandgb@verizon.net or David Pursch at davidpursch@gmail.com

Thank you….

The SEEDS Board will like to extend a HUGE Thank You to Erin and Chuck for taking care of the Newsletter for all this time.  For personal reasons they need to step back for a while. We wish them the best and will miss them.
