Dave Nonnenmacher is the owner and operator of Nonnenmacher Acres, a large market garden outside of Honesdale, PA. Born and raised in Wayne County, Dave is a retired guidance counselor who lives to have his hands in the dirt. “Nonnenmacher Acres” has been in his family since the Civil War. Although his primary goal is providing for his own family, he has been selling produce to at least one local restaurant since 1985.
Since retiring, he has the freedom to try new things. He was the first one in the local chapter of PASA to grow sweet potatoes, crazily growing 21 varieties one year! He specializes in growing winter squash and Asian vegetables. In recent years, he has also been experimenting with lesser known fruits, such as hardy kiwi, American persimmon, and paw paw. Dave is always willing to share his knowledge and experience with others, and hopes we never have to grow survival gardens.
